The Coolsheet PV thermal (PVT) heat exchange panel converts a standard solar panel into a PVT module. As well as cooling the solar panel, which increases efficiency and energy generation, the Coolsheet provides a pre-heat solution for commercial and industrial process heat.
EnergyAE created a TRNSYS model for Sydney’s Fanny Durack Aquatic Centre to evaluate the benefit of installing Coolsheet panels in conjunction with the existing 320kW gas heating system. EnergyAE simulation results showed that installation of 65 Coolsheet PVT panels would result in a considerable reduction in gas consumption, leading to significant annual energy costs savings and a reduction in the lifetime levelised cost of energy (LCOE).
EnergyAE also assisted in the modelling for the North Sydney Olympic Park (NSOP) upgrade project, involving use of Coolsheet PVT to pre-heat water for water-to-water heat pumps, boosting efficiency, as well providing direct heating during summer. Our detailed modelling evaluated the annual savings, strengthening the business case to incorporate Coolsheet PVT in the NSOP project.
