Our team brings together decades of experience in thermal engineering, software simulation, and government policy navigation — helping heat pump and solar water heating manufacturers navigate the complex Australian regulatory and incentive landscape.

We are Australia's exclusive distributor of TRNSYS simulation software and an active member of the CS-028 Australian Standards committee.

Alastair McDowell

Co-Director

Alastair is the managing director of EnergyAE and has over 11 years of experience in mechanical engineering, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and transient system analysis. Alastair has significant expertise modelling water heaters, PV systems, and batteries.

Fiona Parenti

Principal Consultant

Fiona has vast experience in solar products, R&D, consulting, numerical modelling, and laboratory test services, particularly in the area of solar and heat pump water heaters. Her extensive academic and numerical modelling skills were honed during her PhD at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Harry Newman

Engineering Consultant

Harry is a mechanical engineer with a background in building services and a current focus on energy systems and heat pump development. His experience includes transient system analysis using TRNSYS, developing control schemes for heat pumps, and delivering projects across HVAC, hydraulic, and civil disciplines from design to commissioning.

Finn Petersen

Engineering Consultant

Finn is a mechanical engineer with expertise in heat transfer, finite element analysis, and fluid mechanics. He has experience modelling thermal systems including heat pump water heaters and is knowledgeable on Australian incentive schemes. He has significant research experience from his Masters of Engineering.
