GEMS MEPS Simulated data

MEPS Testing Simulator

MEPS (Minimum Energy Performance Standards) is the GEMS determination heat pump water heaters sold in Australia must meet, tested under AS/NZS 5125.1 Appendix H. This tool simulates that test end to end.

Press play and watch a heat pump water heater run the whole sequence: system heat-up, the maximum draw-off that sets V50, re-heat, and the 24-hour tapping cycle. Change the tank volume, control-sensor position, shipped dead band, ambient condition and declared load size, and see how each one changes the result.

What this is

Every number comes from EnergyAE's own Python implementation of the Appendix H sequence, not an accredited test result, and the set point is solved to the 60 ± 1°C set water temperature H.3.4 requires rather than taken from the product's declared default. Appendix H was published 22 May 2026 and no laboratory data yet exists to validate it against. The GEMS Table 15 load-size cap comes from an exposure draft, not yet a made instrument.
