The Aquatech Dynamic X8 is an integral heat pump water heater: a 268 L storage tank (263 L heated volume) with the R290 heat pump, fan and electric booster element built into a single outdoor cabinet (620 mm diameter x 1800 mm unpacked, 118 kg net, 134 kg packed, 378 kg filled). The heat pump uses a GMCC Toshiba rotary compressor rated at 3450 W and a microchannel aluminium alloy heat exchanger, with a 400 g R290 charge at up to 3000 kPa.
On heat pump alone the unit runs across an ambient range of -5 to 43 degrees C, extending to -15 to 50 degrees C once the 1.8 kW electric element is engaged. COP ranges from 2.50 at 0 degrees C wet bulb to 5.09 at 20 degrees C wet bulb, with sound pressure of 42 dB(A) at 1.65 m. Eco, Standard, Hybrid, Hybrid+ and Element heating modes are selectable, with a maximum delivery of 60 degrees C from the heat pump and 70 degrees C once the element is active. The unit runs on a single-phase 220-240V, 10A supply.
R290 is a flammable class 3 gas under AS 1677, so installation and servicing require a licensed refrigeration mechanic and compliance with AS/NZS 5601. The system is certified to AS/NZS 2712 and carries a WaterMark licence under AS 3498. Domestic installations carry a 5-year tank/electronics/refrigeration warranty with 2 years labour; non-residential installations (medium load demand at 150 percent or more, or non-single-family dwellings) carry 3 years tank/electronics/refrigeration with labour at owner cost. Valves carry a 1-year third-party warranty. The unit is registered under DYNAMIC/X8 on the STC register and Dynamic_X8 on the VEU and ESS registers.
