The Aquatech Rapid X6 is an integral heat pump water heater: the heat pump and storage tank are combined in a single outdoor cabinet, installed on a concrete plinth or paved base rated to carry over 315 kg. The unit uses R290 (propane) refrigerant, classed as a flammable gas under AS 1677, so installation and servicing require a licensed refrigeration mechanic and compliance with AS/NZS 5601 for storage and siting. The packaged system weighs 125 kg, 108 kg unpacked. The unit runs on a single-phase 240V supply with a 10 amp circuit and suits Continuous or Shoulder electricity tariffs; Aquatech does not recommend Off-Peak tariffs, since the unit heats up to 25 percent more efficiently at daytime ambient temperatures.
Storage temperature is factory pre-set at 60 degrees C for Legionella control, with a 5 degree C differential in Standard Mode. Eco, Hybrid, Hybrid+, and Element modes are also available; Element Mode uses a 1.8 kW electric element to provide backup heating during servicing. Delivered water exceeds 50 degrees C, so a tempering valve is mandatory under AS/NZS 3500. The system ships with a PTR valve rated at 850 kPa and 10 kW, set to release between 93 and 99 degrees C.
The manual covers two variants of the same physical unit, RAPID/X6 and RAPID/X6/C, sharing identical weight, electrical rating, and PTR valve specification. The variants differ in factory heating mode set points and warranty labour period (2 years for RAPID/X6, 1 year for RAPID/X6/C) and use different serial number prefixes. Both are registered under the same scheme model codes, allowing for casing differences between the VEU, ESS and STC registers.
