NZ has no equivalent to the Australian STC/VEEC/ESC certificate schemes, so no dollar rebate applies to this model.
The Black Diamond AquaCore is a split-system domestic hot water heat pump designed and manufactured in New Zealand for New Zealand conditions: a Mitsubishi Electric outdoor inverter unit and an indoor AquaCore heat exchanger connect to a compatible hot water storage cylinder, and can retrofit onto many existing mains-pressure cylinders as well as new installations. It uses patented partial cascade technology to maintain 60 degrees C in the tank down to -15 degrees C outdoor temperature.
Black Diamond states a COP of up to 3.6 (tested to AS/NZS 5125 with a high draw-off load), delivering hot water up to 62 degrees C and cutting hot water heating costs by up to 80% versus a traditional electric element. The system heats from the top of the tank down, so hot water for a shower is available within around 20 minutes even from a mostly cold tank. Wi-Fi control (Mitsubishi Electric Wi-Fi Control App) covers tank temperature monitoring, scheduling, extra heating cycles and fault notifications. The system is compliant with AS/NZS 4020:2018 (potable water) and supports NZBC Clause G12 (water supplies) and H1 (energy efficiency).
Black Diamond Technologies is Mitsubishi Electric’s New Zealand hot water and heat pump division, providing local product knowledge and after-sales support, and backs the AquaCore with a 5 year comprehensive parts and labour warranty. Detailed performance-table figures (tank volume options, rated heating capacity, power input, sound level, dimensions, weight) are held in a separate brochure PDF not sighted in full; only the specification-page figures above are recorded here.
