NZ has no equivalent to the Australian STC/VEEC/ESC certificate schemes, so no dollar rebate applies to this model.
The Calitec KP-50 is a split-system heat pump water heater: an R32 outdoor heat pump unit (900 x 315 x 545 mm, 37 kg) connected to a 300 L stainless steel hot water cylinder, sized for a 4+ person household. The heat pump delivers 4.0 kW of heating capacity at a 1.1 kW power input (COP 4) at 15 degrees C ambient, and operates across -10 to 45 degrees C, with a sound level of 56 dB(A) or less.
The cylinder is fitted with a 3 kW electric backup element and can heat water to a maximum of 60 degrees C, delivering around 85 L/hr at a 40 degree C temperature rise. A wetback-coil variant of the same cylinder allows a wood burner to contribute to water heating.
Calitec covers the heat pump for 5 years and the hot water cylinder for 20 years. A 250 L cylinder option and a 400 L wetback/hydronic-coil option are also listed on the Calitec site, but detailed specifications for those sizes were not sighted, so no separate entries are made for them pending confirmation.
