The Ecogenica EG-290FR is a split-system heat pump water heater: an outdoor R290 heat pump unit, built around a Toshiba compressor, paired with a 290 L storage tank. The unit is rated at 3.75 kW heating capacity with 750 W input power, giving a declared COP of 5, and operates in ambient temperatures from -7 to 43 degrees C.
R290 is a natural refrigerant with negligible global warming potential. The heat pump connects to the tank through pre-charged refrigerant couplings rather than a pumped water loop, and delivers water at a 55 degree C daily set point. Sound output is rated at 47 dBA. The tank carries a 7 year warranty with 5 years on the compressor.
