Certificate counts are computed from the model's registered performance data using the current regulated equations. A lodged claim depends on the specific installation, household size, and the scheme rules in force at creation. Energy savings % is against the AS/NZS 4234:2021 reference electric storage water heater for that zone, medium household, calculated from the model's registered performance data.

The Econova ECON290 is a split-system heat pump water heater: an outdoor R290 heat pump unit factory pre-charged and joined to the 290 L tank by one-shot quick-connect couplings, so no refrigeration licence is needed to complete the field connection. The heat pump delivers 3.75 kW of heating capacity from 0.75 kW of average input power, giving a COP of 5.0 at the manufacturer’s factory test condition (55 degrees C outlet, 14 degrees C inlet, 19 degrees C dry bulb, 15 degrees C wet bulb). It operates across an ambient range of -7 to 40 degrees C.

An electric element provides backup heating below 0 degrees C and can be manually boosted, and the unit runs a weekly automatic legionella disinfection cycle by default. Maximum outlet water temperature is 70 degrees C in 1 degree C steps. Warranty is 7 years on the tank, 5 years on the compressor, and 2 years of service cover. The heat pump module weighs 36 kg and the empty tank 85 kg.

The same physical product is registered under colour and rebrand variant codes (ECON290C). Certificate values are the same across those variants.
