What customers say

Sourced from EnergyAE's HPWH customer-sentiment dataset (public review sites and forums). A small, self-selected sample — not a representative survey.

“It's been fantastic. It uses such a small amount of energy for what seems like unlimited hot water.”

Mik · Geekzone

“That Midea heat pump unit is not only half the price of the Rinnai & Rheem heat pump units, but also undercuts a basic 300L or 400L Rheem twin element cylinder.”

The Midea RSJ-23/300RDN7-L2 is an all-in-one heat pump water heater sold in New Zealand through Midea Homes NZ and Trade Depot: a 280 L nominal (300 L physical) tank, 650 mm diameter and 1960 mm tall, using R290 refrigerant with WiFi control. This is a different model code from the Midea units registered in Australia (e.g. MHP280F-E1) - dimensions are similar but not confirmed identical, so no AU-equivalent match is recorded.

Midea markets the unit at “400% efficiency” - for every 1 kW of power input, over 4 kW of heat output. The heat pump is rated at 2500 W heating capacity for 2000 W of input power, with a 1100 W electric backup (E-Heater) element for Economy, Hybrid and E-Heater operating modes. COP, sound level and ambient operating range are not published on the NZ product page.

Midea covers the tank cylinder, compressor and labour for 5 years on this model.
