Certificate counts are computed from the model's registered performance data using the current regulated equations. A lodged claim depends on the specific installation, household size, and the scheme rules in force at creation. Energy savings % is against the AS/NZS 4234:2021 reference electric storage water heater for that zone, medium household, calculated from the model's registered performance data.

The Sunrain SIHP-270D2 is an integral heat pump water heater: a single all-in-one cabinet with an R290 heat pump (400 g charge) wrapped around a 270 L enamel-lined tank, so there is no separate outdoor unit to site. The same heat pump module used on the 200 L unit delivers 2.82 kW of heating from a 0.70 kW power input, giving a declared COP of 4.15 at the manufacturer’s test condition (20/15 degrees C ambient, 15 to 55 degrees C water). It operates in ambient temperatures from -15 to 43 degrees C with the electric element assisting, or -7 to 43 degrees C on the heat pump alone.

Hot water is delivered at a rated 60 degrees C (70 degrees C maximum), backed by a 1.8 kW electric element for faster recovery or low-ambient operation. The condenser coil wraps around the tank rather than contacting the water directly, and sound output is 49 dBA. The unit weighs 118 kg net and measures 620 mm diameter by 1850 mm high.

SIHP-270D2 and SIHP-270SY2 share the same tank, heat pump, and rated performance. They differ only in legionella control method: the D2 runs a weekly disinfection cycle using the bottom tank sensor, while the SY2 runs a daily cycle on the upper tank using a middle sensor. Certificate values are the same across both.
