TRNSYS 15 Installation

Overview

TRNSYS 15 is used for HPWH modelling to satisfy Australian government energy efficiency schemes.

TRNSYS deck (.dck) files encode the parameters, inputs, outputs and component descriptions for a thermal energy model and are executed with the Trnsys15.exe application.

How to install TRNSYS 15

1. Copy the TRNSYS15 folder from:
   1. C:\Users\[USER]\Energy AE\Files - TRNSYS\Software\TRNSYS15\TRNSYS15 to:
   2. C:\TRNSYS15\

Run a TRNSYS 15 .dck file

Test it works by running a .dck file in the C:\TRNSYS15\DECKS\RESIDENTIAL folder:

1. Right-click on a deck file e.g. C:\TRNSYS15\DECKS\RESIDENTIAL\INTEGRAL_HP_RES.DCK
2. Click ‘Properties’ > ‘Open with’ > ‘C:\TRNSYS15\Trnsys.exe’
3. Double-click on a .dck file to verify it runs

Edit .dck files using your favourite text editor i.e. Notepad++, VS Code.
