Audit File Naming Conventions

The canonical audit pack structure and naming for CER, VEU, and ESS submissions.

A job folder is a project named AExxx_BRAND holding one or more models, each under Input/<BRAND_MODEL>/. The packs assemble under Output/, split by scheme: SRES, VEU_1D3C, and ESS_D17D19.

Generating the pack

  1. Ensure all modelling is complete and Gate A has passed.
  2. Generate the audit files (TRNSYS Tool audit macro, or the pipeline outputs stage).
  3. Verify all files are present and correctly named before proceeding to Gate B review.

CER Audit Files (SRES)

SRES is the federal STC pack. It omits the control declaration, data plates, and electrical safety certificate. Documents split into Test_Reports/ and Technical_Details/, and the model is nested under the manufacturer’s legal name (resolved from the client registry by brand alias, for example “Ariston S.p.A”). There is one Part C per company, covering all of that company’s models.

Output/
└── SRES/
    └── <Manufacturer legal name>/
        ├── <BRAND_MODEL>/
        │ ├── Test_Reports/ (_2712.pdf _4234.docx _4692.pdf _5125.pdf)
        │ ├── Technical_Details/ (_TDS.xlsx _dimension.pdf _manual.pdf)
        │ └── TRNSYS_Files/ (_Z1 .. _Z5 flat (L2, 2008) + DTHX/_DTHX + FP/_FP)
└── <BRAND>_PartC.xlsx (one per company, all that company's models)

Key CER requirements

  • Manufacturer name must match the AS/NZS 2712 certificate legal entity.
  • Model name must be consistent across all documents.
  • TRNSYS files must include frosting penalty (FP) and DTHX calibration data.
  • Annual simulation files are load size 2, AS/NZS 4234:2008.
  • Test report validation email required if a digital signature is missing.

VEU Audit Files

VEU keeps documents flat in the model folder and includes the control declaration, electrical safety certificate, and HP data plate. The upload form sits at the scheme root, named <BRAND_MODEL>_VEU_upload.xlsx.

Output/
└── VEU_1D3C/
    ├── <BRAND_MODEL>/
    │ ├── <BRAND_MODEL>_2712.pdf
    │ ├── <BRAND_MODEL>_4234.docx
    │ ├── <BRAND_MODEL>_4692.pdf
    │ ├── <BRAND_MODEL>_5125.pdf
    │ ├── <BRAND_MODEL>_ElectricalSafety.pdf
    │ ├── <BRAND_MODEL>_TDS.xlsx
    │ ├── <BRAND_MODEL>_control.docx
    │ ├── <BRAND_MODEL>_dataplate_HP.png
    │ ├── <BRAND_MODEL>_dimension.pdf
    │ ├── <BRAND_MODEL>_manual.pdf
    │ └── TRNSYS_Files/ (FP/ L1/(Z4,Z5) L2/(Z3,Z4,Z5), 2021)
    └── <BRAND_MODEL>_VEU_upload.xlsx

Key VEU requirements

  • The upload form enables bulk import of multiple models.
  • Models must achieve 60% energy savings (load size 2, AS/NZS 4234:2021).
  • Electrical safety certificate required (unless risk level 1).
  • Control declaration must match the modelling settings.
  • Data plate images must be clear and readable.
  • Annual simulation files: load sizes 1 and 2, AS/NZS 4234:2021.

Confirm at first lodgement that the VEU portal accepts the <BRAND_MODEL>_VEU_upload.xlsx name. DEECA has historically wanted a dated Upload_Form_YYYYMMDD_1 PUF, so check the current portal requirement.

ESS Audit Files

ESS uses the same flat documents as VEU. TRNSYS files include FP and L2 only. The upload form sits at the scheme root, named <BRAND_MODEL>_ESS_upload.xlsx.

Output/
└── ESS_D17D19/
    ├── <BRAND_MODEL>/
│ ├── (same flat documents as VEU)
    │ └── TRNSYS_Files/ (FP/ L2/(Z3,Z4,Z5), 2021)
    └── <BRAND_MODEL>_ESS_upload.xlsx

Key ESS requirements

  • Models must achieve 60% energy savings (load size 2, AS/NZS 4234:2021).
  • Control declaration required.
  • Data plate images required.
  • TRNSYS files organised in FP and L2 subfolders only.
  • Annual simulation files: load size 2 only, AS/NZS 4234:2021.
  • Eligible under the ESS HEER method for residential HPWHs.

Declarations and Supporting Documents

  • Model Name Declaration: Required if model names differ across documents. Template: Templates/Manufacturers_Declaration_Template.docx
  • Authorisation Letter: Required if applicant does not own test reports. Template: Templates/Authorisation Letter Template.docx
  • Control Declaration: Describes control logic and legionella compliance strategy. Required for VEU and ESS.
  • Test Report Validation Email: Required if a digital signature is missing from test reports.

Verification Checklist

Before proceeding to Gate B review:

  • All files are in the project Output/ folder under the correct scheme
  • Naming conventions match exactly (no spaces, correct extensions)
  • TRNSYS files include FP calibration (CER: also include DTHX)
  • Annual simulation files are correct load size and AS/NZS 4234 version
  • Model names are consistent across all documents
  • Declarations are signed (or signed copies are on file)
  • Data plate images are clear and readable
  • No duplicate or outdated files
