Portal Access Setup

How to request, configure, and verify VEU and TESSA portal access at project kickoff.

Portal access must be confirmed before modelling begins — not at submission. Discovering access problems when a submission window is open has cost weeks on previous projects.

Email alias system

Both portals require a unique email address per client account. Use the +alias format so one inbox serves multiple clients without creating new addresses:

firstname.lastname+clientbrand@energyae.com

Aliases forward automatically to your regular inbox — no additional setup needed once you provide the alias to the client.

Requesting access from the client

The Client Kickoff Form requests this. For follow-up, use the Portal Access Request Email Template:

Hi {Client name},

To enable our access to your VEU and TESSA accounts, both portals support the addition of secondary users using a unique email address.

Please add the following email address as a secondary user to both your VEU portal and TESSA accounts: {your.name+clientbrand@energyae.com}

This will allow me to access both portals and submit product applications on your behalf.

Once added, please let me know and I will log in to confirm the access works.

Authenticator app

Once added as a secondary user, you may need to set up multi-factor authentication. The portals use Salesforce Authenticator. Install this on your phone before your first login attempt — you may be prompted to scan a QR code or enter a setup key to link your account.

Saving credentials

After gaining access, save the following in the Contacts section of the Energy Modelling Overview (EMO) spreadsheet:

  • Alias email address used for this client
  • Password (do not paste in email or chat)
  • Client’s own login email (for reference)
  • Date of last successful login

Verifying access at kickoff

Before signing off Section F of the PIC, the lead engineer confirms:

  • VEU portal: EAE secondary user added; alias confirmed by successful login (not just an invitation receipt)
  • TESSA portal: EAE secondary user added; alias confirmed by successful login
  • Client TESSA Authorised Signatory in place (named individual confirmed in writing)
  • Date of last successful login for each portal recorded in the EMO

Portal regimes change. The VEU and TESSA portals have changed their secondary-user setup and login processes more than once. Always verify by actually logging in — do not assume an old invitation is still active.

If access fails, resolve immediately with the client and director. Modelling does not begin without portal access confirmed.

VEU Portal

https://veu.esc.vic.gov.au/vpr/s/

The client needs a VEU Administrative account. If they do not have one, they must register at the ESC VEU registration page. Once registered, they add EnergyAE as a secondary user using the alias email.

TESSA Portal (ESS)

https://tessa.energysustainabilityschemes.nsw.gov.au/ipart

The client registers at: https://www.energysustainabilityschemes.nsw.gov.au/registering-account

The client must also add themselves as an Authorised Signatory before they can submit applications. Remind the client of this at kickoff — discovering a missing signatory at submission is a multi-day delay.

For NZ-entity and signatory considerations, see Signatory and Entity Policy.
