Identify TRNSYS Template
If it is single HP and tank you don’t need a schematic, it’s just flow & return. For two tanks, we use the same template, just indicate number of tanks and flow rate should be halved etc.
Study the system schematic to identify what template to use. Here are some examples.
- Parallel HP + tanks.
This is the most simple case. Pumped circulation between a HP and tank. This system has a variable speed pump with a fixed HP outlet temperature. Use the Separate_HP_Map_VariableFlow template. If the pump is fixed speed, use Separate_HP_Map. These templates can also be used with multiple HP or tank components plumbed in parallel.

- Parallel tanks with internal coil HX
Use Separate_HP_Map_Coil. If variable flow, use VariableFlow version.

- Series tanks
Use Separate_HP_Map_Series2. If variable flow, use VariableFlow version.

Series tanks
- Series tanks with internal coil HX
Use Separate_HP_Map_VariableFlow_Coil_Series2. Or if there are 3 or 4 tanks in series, use the appropriate Series[N] version, i.e. Separate_HP_Map_VariableFlow_Coil_Series3, Separate_HP_Map_VariableFlow_Coil_Series4.
