Test Report Validation

VEU and CER applications require AS/NZs 4692 and AS/NZs 5125 test reports to be validated for submission.

Test Report Declarations

VEU require test reports (AS/NZS 4692 and AS/NZS 5125) to be electronically verified to ensure that they have not been altered fraudulently since they were issued from the test lab.

A “digital signature” is a digital security feature attached to PDF files to ensure authenticity of the document.

Some labs issue test reports with a digital signature which will look like the below:

Example of a digital signature on a SGS test report as viewed on Adobe Reader

If the test lab does not have this setup, we need to request the test lab to verify the reports via email.

Send an email to the report approver and then file the response in Client Material named Brand_Model_####_Declaration, where #### = 4692 or 5125 depending on the report.

How to provide test report validation?

Step 1: Check to see if AS/NZS 5125 AND 4692 test reports have a valid digital signature. It should be displayed when you open the file. See image below.

Example of valid test report signature

If the test report is NOT from Intertek, it probably will not have a valid digital signature.

Step 2: If the test report(s) DOES NOT have a valid digital signature, send the following email to the test lab:

Attachment/s: [Test report/s]

Subject: Test report validity for test reports [Test Report Number/s]

Content:

Hi [Name],

Could you please confirm the attached [AS/NZS 5125 and or AS/NZS 4692] test report (Test report no. [Test Report Number/s]) is authentic and have remained unchanged since the laboratory’s final issue?

A email reply stating the following will work “The attached test report (XXXXX) is an authoritative third-party laboratory report prepared after our testing and signed by our leader.

We guarantee that the signatures on the report are all authorized personnel of our laboratory, and the report is authentic and traceable.

Thanks,

Kind Regards,

Your Signature.

Step 3: Save the test lab’s reply in the audit files as ‘Brand_Model_TestReportTestReportValidity.msg’

Test report validity included in audit files

Step 4: If RFI’d, you will need to forward the email to the VEU (veu@esc.vic.gov.au) and reference the application ID.

Subject: Validity statement for Test report [Test Report Number/s] for VEU application/s [Application ID/s]:

Hi VEU,

Please see email from [Test Lab] confirming the validity for Test report no. [Test Report Number/s] for [VEU Account] VEU application ID’s [Application IDs].
