TRNSYS Tool

Guidance on how to use the TRNSYS Tool.

We’ve developed an Excel TRNSYS automation tool that streamlines AS/NZS 4234 modelling, automatically generating application forms and reports. Find the latest version in the AE999/03-Modelling folder.

The tool runs VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) scripts in the background. Access the VBA editor with Alt+F11 or via the Developer tab. It’s actively evolving with new schemes and optimizations.

Setup and Workflow

  1. Open the “Start Here” tab and rename the simulation to match the project number (e.g., AExxx).
  2. Save a copy with the project number for reference.
  3. Fill in details in the “Start Here” tab.
  4. Review the “Instructions” tab and follow the steps.
  5. Enter HP performance data in the “FAM_HP” sheet.
  6. Run a test simulation and check the plotter to verify the model matches expected design performance.
  7. Run annual simulations to check baseline results.
  8. Discuss variations with the client (e.g., setpoint, deadband, sensor position). Use the 1D Analyser to explore options and present results in a summary table.
  9. Finalise TDS data and run the final AS/NZS 4234 modelling. Prepare the modelling report.
  10. Request Gate A peer review.
  11. Once Gate A passes, proceed to audit file preparation.

Troubleshooting: Log any issues, bugs, or fixes in the “Issues Log” tab for tracking and resolution.
