0. Quotation
How to scope and quote a residential SWH modelling project before project initiation.
Phase 0 turns an enquiry into a confirmed scope and accepted quote. It is usually director-led because the quote needs to fix the model list, schemes, testing status, certification status, and submission responsibility before project work starts.
Inputs
Before quoting, request a scope table from the client showing:
- Brand and model name for each SWH system being submitted
- Model description, collector type, tank volume, and system type (flat-plate, evacuated tube, thermosiphon, etc.)
- Target schemes: CER/SRES, VEU, ESS, or a combination
- Whether AS/NZS 2535.1 (collector), AS/NZS 4692 (tank heat loss), potable water, and electrical safety testing is complete
- Whether AS/NZS 2712 certification is complete, underway, or not started
- Whether the client already has CER, VEU, and IPART/TESSA accounts
- Whether EnergyAE will submit applications or only provide modelling/audit files
Phase sub-tasks
- Confirm project scope and model list.
- Confirm target schemes and EnergyAE submission responsibility.
- Confirm testing and certification status.
- Identify out-of-scope items such as retesting, certification body management, extra model variants, or regulator RFI rounds beyond the quote.
- Prepare and issue the quote in Xero — refer to Pricing for current rates and How to use Xero for quoting instructions.
Exit gate
Phase 0 exits when:
- Quote has been issued through Xero
- Client has accepted the quote
- Project-start approval has been confirmed
- Phase 1 Project Initiation can begin
Once accepted, move immediately to Phase 1 - Project Initiation.
