4. Modelling
Step-by-step modelling workflow for large commercial HPWH projects — phases, key outputs, and links to each topic.
Steps must be completed in order. Each step depends on outputs from the one before it — do not begin a later step until the earlier one is complete and any client responses have been received.
| Step | Phase | Key output |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Set up the TRNSYS Tool | Project folder configured; tool initialised and scrubbed |
| 2 | Create the EN 14511 performance map | HPdata.txt and HPdata.xlsx generated |
| 3 | Enter tank model parameters | Tank geometry and heat loss entered |
| 4 | Compile HP parameters | FAM_COM sheet complete |
| 5 | Identify the TRNSYS template | Correct template selected for this system configuration |
| 6 | Gate A1 review | Parameters reviewed for the first system before bulk modelling begins |
| 7 | Find the commercial peak load (CPL) | CPL determined for all three climate zones |
| 8 | Review results | Energy savings and certificate values confirmed; client approval received |
| 9 | Gate A2 review | Full modelling signed off by peer reviewer |
Exit gate
Once Gate A2 has passed and client approval is received, proceed to Phase 5 — Audit File Preparation.
